Does The Shark Top The List of Endangered Species?

Endangered species list has been cause by the use of chemicals, by factories, and finding their way into the sea or oceans have been a great endanger to a lot of the fish family.  Topping the endangered species list are the trawlers who without a care in the world, fish in the deep seas and threaten the life of most of these sea creatures.  Deep sea fish or creatures we are told are few and can outlive their sallow water counterparts.  Even notably is their reproducing system which is really slow and take years to pick up.

Fish like shark has not been spared either.  It has been hunted down mainly for food and for their fins, teeth and cartilage.  Human are the worst enemies of the shark. Most of the shark’s breeding grounds have been destroyed.  Sharks are known to breed in mangrove areas.  A lot of mangrove areas has been cleared or destroyed by man.  This has affected the breeding pattern of the shark as the gestation takes close to two years.  This has contributed to endangering the shark population at large.

Oil leakage from ships has also caused a lot death and extinction to some very rare species of fish. Fish life span is usually short and they are known to swim freely in water.  Unless changes are made by both trawlers and those who fish for pleasure, a lot of these species will disappear and we might not see them again.  Fishing regulations and boundaries should be set to save these endangered.  Overfishing and destruction of the sea bed leads to massive destruction of fish species.

Whether it is the shark, the eel, the tuna and the salmon amongst others, they too need maximum protection from humans who remain top most in the list of their destruction.  They too deserve a chance to live and enjoy nature’s beauty.  Let’s not exploit the available resources by overdoing what in not necessary and destroy nature in the course of our duty.  Animals expect us to protect them and not destroy them.
